Free Back-To-School Series: Building Relationships in Your School Community

Join us Thursday, August 3 from 3-4pm ET for our free training on building relationships with families, the third in our three-part series.

Ensuring students build and sustain caring relationships and feel supported by their school community will be more important than ever this year.

For the next few weeks, Making Caring Common will host back-to-school learning sessions on Thursdays at 3pm ET. In each session, we’ll discuss ways to collect data about relationships within your school, and we’ll provide research-based strategies to promote caring and connectedness.

  • August 13: Building Relationships in the Classroom
    Register now, and learn how to:

    • Collect data about your students’ wellbeing and use it to build more caring relationships

    • Define empathy and use it to better understand others in the classroom and school

    • Expand students’ circle of concern by developing empathy

    • Help students recognize and express gratitude to others

  • August 27: Building Relationships Across the School Community
    Register now, and learn how to:

    • Collect data about student relationships and use it to connect students and adults

    • Leverage student leaders to support a caring school culture

    • Create a ritual and shared experience to promote caring relationships and a positive school community

  • September 3: Reinforcing Strong Relationships at Home
    Register now, and learn how to:

    • Gather feedback from families about their experiences of the school community

    • Support families in developing key relationship building skills in young people

    • Communicate with families in ways that foster strong relationships between schools and homes
